As a true “beginner” I found your sessions very easy to follow and your instructions clear and succinct in delivery. This was very much appreciated and made my first session very enjoyable. I am looking forward to additional classes. At my age (73) I am looking for every avenue that will add to the quality of my life and I do feel yoga can be a contributing factor to that quality. Looking forward to future sessions and improvements in my personal performance during those sessions. Thank you.

In the second half to third of our lives, we begin to see the signs of wear and tear on our bodies. Perhaps old injuries sneak back up. Or bad habits of how we have moved for 40, 50, 60 years start to creep in showing up as aches and pains in joints or the spine. Most of us, like Randy, want to seek every avenue to add to our quality of life - we want longevity but we want longevity with vitality.

If you use these videos consistently (once or more a week for 8 weeks), you will experience:

  1. Improvement in posture as you build strength and flexibility in the entire spine, back body, and hips.

  2. Reduced back pain. As your posture and flexibility improve, back pain will lessen.

  3. Maintain or improve balance. Most aging people begin to become concerned about falling. In each video, you will be guided through practices to help maintain or improve your balance in a variety of ways.

  4. Mobilize stiff joints and the spine. Connective tissue naturally begins to stiffen and become less elastic as we age. When it comes to flexibility, it's "use it or lose it." Yoga takes joints through the full range of motion, helping to maintain or increase flexibility as you age.

  5. Reduce tension, increase relaxation. If you are a human being living in modern society, you will accumulate stress and tension in your body. Yoga helps to relieve tension, creating a more relaxed and centered body and mind.

  6. Increased body awareness and proprioception (where your body is in space). No matter what age, we all need to continue to challenge ourselves to build greater proprioception, which will help to reduce and prevent injuries.

Yoga is an essential ingredient in maintaining our bodies and minds as we age. It's part of the "balanced diet" - along with weight training and cardiovascular conditioning - to keep our bodies healthy and mobile.

Joanna has been teaching yoga since 2001 and her teaching style tends to attract students who are looking to slow things down and who are curious about building intelligence in their bodies and wisdom in their minds. She believes in making yoga accessible, challenging, and interesting.
